I recently purchased a small Japanese Cedar. It’s a lovely small shape but has started to go brown very quickly. I’ve had it a couple of weeks and the soil has stayed moist but once branch looks very dry and the leaves are turning brown. I have read that this can be normal at the end of the growing season, but not entirely sure. This seems rather sudden.

Yes, the tree go totally Brown in authum and winter. Better mention where you are located and provide a photo so we can see if it is normal browning or sign of stress.

Located in UK. Had it in North facing window. Gets lots of sun in the morning, its a bright location all day and not too hot. We have a South facing garden which can get extremely hot in the summer.
