Hi! I’ve been lurking to try to see if I could do it on my own been I’ve been failing miserably. I’ve attached pictures.
I got the tree as a graduation gift. I think it’s a juniper tree (???) and I read that they like full sunlight for a few hours a day so I moved it outside in the sun which I think was a mistake. A bunch of the bristles turned yellow! I thought maybe it just needed more water so I watered it because the soil was dry. I think it was too hot outside though (I live in Southern California by the beach).
So I brought it inside where it gets indirect sunlight for 4-5 hours a day. But the bristles are still yellow. Not sure how to help it. I’ve been watering it when the soil is dry but I’m worried the lighting/climate isn’t right. I’d love some direction on what kind it is and how I can help it thrive.
Thank you so much!!!!

Get it outside, you are killing it. It looks dry, it needs water.

There is no such thing as an indoor tree.
Place it outside, in full sun and leave it there, where it belongs.
It is probably too late for this plant though, coniferous species show signs of distress long after they already died.
