Help!!!Im not sure if my Junpier 名媛直播 is dead was created by Alraune

I was out for vacation and I asked my parents to water it while I was gone. I come back to check on it only to find out that the foliage was falling off with not that much pressure applied. I started panicking and tested other areas of the Junpier but it seemed like other parts of the foliage wasn’t falling off. I do the bark test where you check the skin? Under the bark to identify if its dead. I check and it’s red? What does this mean? Im seriously worrying...Please help

Ps: Send info on ways to treat it if isn’t dead

Provide some pictures and a close up where you did the bark test.

I checked other spots on the bark and I saw some specks of green but I don’t know if it’ll mean much :(

The colour of the foliage/ needles is not good. A juniper that looks like that is almost certain a lost cause.
Have you been keeping it outside or inside?

I’ve been keeping it outside, since I live in central California there’s been a lot of excessive heat to dry out my Juniper.

We never like excessive heat waves. What I would do when there’s going to be high temperatures is pulling smaller plants into the shade or under a bigger established tree. I might even bring a potted plant indoors just during those hot hours as needed. Then once the sun’s down I would bring it outside overnight.

Junipers love heat and sun, but they also need to be watered. If the temperature is excessive and shading is not enough then aluminium foil around the pot will reflect the heat, but taking it inside is not a good idea, keeping moving it is not good.
