Forget the socalled indoor species. 99% of the "help my tree is dying" questions here are from people with "indoor trees". Many have tried but i have not seen one come back here to show how good their tree is doing inside ( i'm here 6 years). There is not one tree in the entire world that lives naturally indoors.

So, choose a tree native to your region/climate and enjoy them outside where they will thrive.

Put them in shade first and then gradually move to full sun.

Indoor species is a term used by the industry for species that need some protection during winter. They are kept in temperature controlled greenhouses. Not in living room conditions which is far to hot and dry during winter. Crassula and portulacaria is the only bonsai species that will cope with living room conditions long term. By many not accepted as bonsai species.
