Yellowing and browning was created by JunR

Hello - I have this juniper that suddenly turned yellow/brown and had most of its needles falling off. The plant is outdoors. I may have overwatered it at one point but have since started drying it out. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

It is extremely difficult to overwater, so I doubt you did, have you checked for insects etc? The strength of Junipers in in the foliage, have you been pruning, possibly too much?

Thanks. I only started pruning when the needles started to discolor. No sign of insects and the branches are all still pretty pliable which to me means it may still have a chance. I was planning to try repotting it.

No do not repot, that will finish it off. It would help to see a picture. There has to be a reason for it to happen suddenly, it could be a root issue, you could drop it out of the pot an look to see what the roots are like, but don't disturb them. If it is not draining well then when back in the pot make some holes with a chopstick to allow the water to drain.

@m5eaygeoff - Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure why the photos didn't upload. I shared some on the original post. I'll try attaching them here again.

@lucR - Yes, I've always had it outside. I've had it about a year.

I guess I can stop trying to revive it now. Must have been some kind of root rot.
