I was gifted this bonsai by my parents in April. About a month ago I started seeing it turn yellow but it was a because I kept it indoors so started putting it in my balcony. I sprinkled it every two days, but my husband did water it a lot so I think he over watered it so we reported it to this pot 5 days ago as the previous one had rocks glued to the pot and the bonsai had very little space. I got this soil from Amazon: Conifer Blend premium bonsai soil but it’s just Little Rock’s no regular black soil as I’m used to seeing, is it ok?
As I thought it had been overwatered I haven’t watered it since just sprinkled water on top, but started noticing some tiny roots coming up the soil, should I water often then?
I have also noticed a whiteish fungus like dust in the bottom of the trunk, is it a disease?
Have never fertilized it since I got it, should I do it, how often and are there any brand suggestions?
Any help on getting this precious gift back to normal would’ve greatly appreciated! Thank you

You need to water way more than you are.
In summer, my junipers get a full drench every day. With the substrate you have there, you probably have to do the same once it starts growing. hen you water, water till it is running out of the drainage holes of the pot. Then way for the top of the surface to change color (dry out). Water again befor the substrate dries out more than half an inch deep
