Growing bonsai from seeds

Hello to the lovely 名媛直播 community, I'm very happy to have found you!
I started growing a few different varieties of 名媛直播 in January after my partner gave me some seeds as a gift. I have managed to start growing 2 gorgeous redbuds (I just love their heart shaped leaves and the vibrant green), 2 larch and 3 pine. I'll attach some photos.
All of the seedlings seem to be growing well but as they grow taller (the redbuds in particular) I now wonder whether I need to be repotting them into something a bit more substantial. I know bonsai grow in small pots but the ones I have them in at the moment are approx 5cm diameter so very tiny.
Any advice on when to move them to bigger pots, when to start pruning them etc would be fantastic. I've been watching videos on youtube and reading other forums but I'd like some specific advice for my little seedlings. It's so easy to get lost in the amount of forums and information!
Thank you in advance for your help

No need for pruning now.
But you could wire those pines / larches with some shapes, now it is still bendeble.
If you don't want to grow them in your garden to thicken them up.
Then you might want to make small shohin bonsai's
Look up for some intresting shapes here:
He has a lot of small tree's, just browse trough his albums. If you see something you like, post that picture here, so people can advise you how to go from your tree's to those tree's from the album.
Btw, did you grow them indoors? if yes then they need to migrate outdoors before winter comes, because they need dormancy in winter!

Hi Rorror,
Thanks for the advice, I'll check out the link and move the plants outdoors. It's very warm here in the UK right now - well, warm for the UK! It's about 28C and pretty humid so I guess they will do well outdoors over the summer.

Make sure you 'harden them off' first.
First two weeks only morning sun unti 10:30, and the rest of the day in the shade.
Or they will burn from the sun.
Some more info about hardening off:

That's very helpful, thank you. I was reading a post earlier about getting the bonsais outdoors before the winter dormancy, I'm learning all the time from you all!
My redbuds are getting quite tall and I wonder whether they need a bigger pot yet. Any words of wisdom on that?

Hello and welcome
mind you that you are not growing different varieties of bonsai species, but normal trees, iow, they will become normal trees if left to grow freely ( there is no such thing as bonsai seed)
名媛直播 are trees that are made by using a multitude of techniques, in specific times in a year/season depending on a lot of variables and this during decades.
Your saplings need to grow first, and it will be at least 10 years before they will be remotely looking like a pre-bonsai if given the proper care on the right moment.
I do not want to disappoint you but try and keep them alive first for a few years. Use that time to read up on horticulture ( thé most important thing in bonsai is healthy plants, and that can only be achieved if they are outside, year round)), and anything bonsai related concerning the what and when after that.
Go to a local bonsai club, follow some lessons,...

Hello lucR,
Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate you taking the time
Don't worry, you can't disappoint me, I realise I'm at the beginning of a lifelong project and that years of dedication are needed to care for my little trees. I have loved watching them develop from a seed and will continue to enjoy their growth through the years.
My main issue right now is, do i need to put each sapling into a bigger pot to continue their growth. I will start acclimatising them to being outdoors as Rorror explained to me in previous replies

They will be allright in their pots, no worries. Repot one size up next spring, right before buds open. Now is absolutely the wrong moment to repot ( any tree for that matter) - horticulture again...
o, btw concerning repotting: absolutely no need to buy expensive bonsai soil for the next 5- 10 years, normal potting soil will do; same goes for fertiliser, your normal all purpose garden/plant fertiliser will do fine

Potting soil will be fine as what lucR said.
But for me that is not working anymore, as there is a Vine weevil plague going on in the neighborhood. Grubs in the soil eating away the roots.
So if you have any of those insects around your house, then i would go to some substrate, as they can't dig in that.
