My dad planted these two avocado trees in my backyard and they have been getting torn up by our bunny and torched by the sun. One of them was planted almost a year ago and the other was only planted about 2-3 months ago. Last week I put up some chicken wire around them so the bunny can't get to them. I also put some protective cover over the base of the trees to protect them from sunlight, but it seems the rest of the trees are still getting burnt in the sunlight. What is the best way to protect these trees from sunlight?? Is the current set up good to protect the base? I was told these styrofoam pipe insulation pieces would be better than tape around the base.
