Hi all.
I'm so very new to the world of bonsai — I bought my wife a bonsai pine tree for Mother's Day (May 9) and already the pines are turning brown. I need help identify the type of pine — I think it's a Japanese red or black pine.Of course, I've been watering regularly and added a little fertilizer to the soil, and occasionally give the needles a spritz of water.
Thank you,
Bruce

Yes, I keep it inside. Is that my mistake, should it be outside?

Conifers, including pines, do not tolerate the indoors. You must keep it outside and either in full or partial sun depending on the species. An indoor environment is too low in humidity and doesn't have wind. You could bring in a conifer bonsai indoor for at most three days. Otherwise, just keep it outside.

When mowing outside, be careful. It is not used to the strong sun. First put it in the shade and gradually move to more and more sun over a fortnight or so.
Is that a humidity tray? That one can be remowed. Does nothing really.
