Juniper tips turning brown

Hi,
I just joined the site/forum because I’m really hoping to get some help and advice.
I was gifted a beautiful 19 year old juniper bonsai for my birthday in March. It lives outside in my backyard in Washington DC and it’s from New York so we were assured it’s in the proper climate. For the first couple months, it was doing great. Every branch was covered in green tips and it was growing a lot. A couple weeks ago, I noticed that it had lost some color. Last week, we went away for 8 days and during that time it rained substantially nearly every day. When I arrived home, all the green tips are brown and the color is definitely faded.
What’s going on and what should I do? Is it overwatering? Pests? I really need some help and advice. I’ve attached a couple pictures to this email.
Thank you so much in advance,

Just to to keep the post alive, most of these folks know a bunch more than I. Actually, I never saw a juniper die from the the top down. Curiously... Well my plants never die from overwatering, quite the opposite, or trying some strange fertilizer thing.
How much do you you water it?

Trees with that much foliage, shallow pot and that draining soil is virtually impossible to overwater. I would not be suppriced if the issue is drying out while you were away for a week.
The tree looks like recently repotted, when was that done?

Thanks!
I don’t water it too much, I’ve been careful to only water it when the soil feels dry, but it has been inundated by rain the last few days.

Dont be careful watering. Water abundantly and often. This is a big tree in a small pot with very draining soil. You cannot overwater and rain is just not enough.
