Jacaranda indoor from seeds was created by KingWilliam

Hello all!

My wife gifted me a "kit" for my birthday with bonsai seeds. I am really excited to start with this but have no clue what I am doing. It came with a link to some documentation, but it is quite limited and unclear.

In the meantime I learned that there is no such thing as "bonsai seeds", and I could technically just start from any seed. Anyway, in the kit came 4 different kinds. One of them is Jacaranda, and that is the one I would like to start with.

I live in Belgium, far from the natural climate for this tree. Now I would like to grow it indoors, but am not sure how that would work. I can place it behind a window on the south side. Sunlight should not be an issue at all. But I saw this tree should normally blossom. I have no idea how that would happen if there is no real "climate" except for more/less sunlight in summer/winter.

So in essence, can I grow the Jaracanda indoor in Belgium?

Also, the little manual said to soak the seeds in water 24 hours before planting. That is already going on right now...

The tree should sprout just fine, but then it will need sunlight. Put it outside in the sun and leave it outside until nights start to get cold, 10C or so.

Then, in the spring, back out as soon as nights are above 10. When inside, it should have as much sun as possible, and check it almost every day for spiders, mites, and insects.

I wind up moving my tropicals in and out a couple of times if we get a cold snap that warms up again. If the forecast is hot for three or more days, I like to give them the stronger sun, but some prefer to leave them in no matter what. Your choice.

It's quite simple really: stay away from growing trees indoors. Many tried, more failed. The help section here in this forum is literally filled with people asking for help for theyr dying/dead "indoor" tree.

ps: je weet dat er ook een nederlandstalig forum is? 名媛直播empire.nl

Alright thanks a lot! In my perception a bonsai tree was an indoor thing, but I was clearly wrong on that front. I already have a nice outdoor spot for it in mind.

ps: Ik wist helemaal niet dat er een Nederlandstalig forum is! Ik neem zeker een kijkje :)

Note.. Outdoor, but only for frost hardy species. Jacaranda will not live many years outside. Those you bring outside to play in the garden in spring and summer, and back indoor for the cold part of the year.
