Hello!
Total beginner here, and I need help on figuring out what is wrong with my juniper bonsai.

I bought it on the side of the road and the man told me to use fertilizer frequently and it should be fine.
I think I was misguided.





It’s indoors, normal temp is around 73-75°F.
Watered when needed and GREEN GREEN fertilizer every other day.

It’s dropping its leaves, bark has become a bit red, roots very visible and also a little red, and a little bit of yellowing leaves.

Also, is the white stuff around the trunk the fertilizer?

I’ve attached an image and would greatly appreciated it if someone could help, as it’s my first bonsai and I really want to care for it properly.

Outdoor, ASAP and hoping it’s not too late already.
Avoid fertilizing entirely for a good while. And fertilizing that often is absolutely a no-no anyway

How bad is it?
We have deer problems, so would it be safe to have him outside for most of the day except at night? We live in a very humid climate.

Junipers looks green long after they have died. So unfortunately it might be a gonner.

Junipers are evolved to natural environment. Which is colder at night and warmer at day. Bringing it in at night will not help the tree. Outside, allways.

I have a lot of dears in my area. Have never seen them eat junipers. Not in my garden nor in the forest around me that is full of needle junipers. Sometimes they eat a few leafs of my maples. But only soft new leafs which I would have pruned myself anyway.

Too much time indoors. I would really recommend giving it some outdoor time.
