I've seen questions about this on other forums...but without any answer. My son gave me a tea tree bonsai two years ago. It has been doing great until now. Suddenly began losing leaves then developed brown fuzzy lesions at the base of the small branches. Can this tree be saved? And how? Thank you for any advice. This tree means a lot to me.

Not the greatest photo and just taken with my iPhone. There are perhaps a couple of dozen similar lesions/growths. This seems to be just starting.
