Do I need to straighten up this Japanese maple? was created by crvxv

I bought this little maple today and it looks like it's growing out to one side. Should I straighten it up with a stake or will it grow okay and straighten by itself? Not intending for it to be a bonsai but I will be keeping it in a container. Any advice is appreciated!

In bonsai we want the trunks to have some mowement. Actually, I like the same natural look on all my trees no matter bonsai or not.
Byt, yes. If you want a totally straight trunk you can stake it up.

I just don't want it to grow so much to one side that it might have trouble staying upright. I'm totally new to any kind of gardening so I don't know if trees typically straighten out on their own or if it might become a problem if left alone.

Most trees wants to grow straight and tall if left untouched. It is hard to know what your plan for the tree is. Not bonsai, but grown in pot. Will you be styling? Wiring? Prunning?
If you are to prune or wire, you dont need to worry that the tree cannot stay upright. Just use theese techniques to prevent that.

Unless in a shaded corner and needing to grow in one direction to get to the light, plants will balance themselves to grow more or less upright.

I was thinking/hoping to just let it grow naturally and prune as needed for the best growth, but I'm completely new to anything gardening related. I'm a little intimidated when it comes to doing anything that might damage it or be bad in the long run.
I'd be happy to let this one do it's thing for the most part, I'm just worried it might continue to keep growing off to one side. I don't want it to be super straight, just so that it won't be a problem years from now.
Maybe using a wire would be a better solution than a stake?

This one was pretty close to several others that all had a similar "lean" so I think they were all growing toward the light. Does it seem small enough that it should be okay on its own to straighten up a bit if it starts getting some full sun for part of the day?
Appreciate all the replies so far!

Do not mess with it. Let it do its thing. Plant have for millions of years been able to grow. They do not need you to tell them where to grow.
Finally, remember: This is abonsai forum. Not a generic "I am growing a plant" forum. You might be much better helped at a general gardening forum.
