I bought it as a gift from herons bonsai. It's a Chinese elm in the broom style.
She really likes it. but the two things that are bothering me slightly is
1) there's a few random leaves with brown spots or brown tips, is this concerning or am I overreacting?
2) the trunk for some reason seems really thick with one side very covered in soil & there's a bend in the trunk even though I thought broom is completely straight. Is this normal for a Chinese elm?
I'll post a few pictures from different angles and point at the brown spots.

nothing wrong with the leaves, looks like it has become loose in the pot. I hope you do not intend to keep this inside. The style is hat it is broom style does not have have a straight trunk, it is more of an informal upright but it is subjective and not anything to worry about. Probably would benefit from re potting in better soil at some time, and could do with a trim.
