I’m a beginner. I have a small juniper tree in a 6 x 4 inch pot. Can I increase the size of this tree if I replant in a larger pot?

The tree will grow bigger by time in any case. In larger pot it will be faster.

Just for checking.....You keep it outdoors where it belongs right? If not the answer is no, it will not grow bigger, it will die.

Thank you. I keep my bonsai half time indoors and half time outdoors. Can it stand low temperatures?
I thought the size was controlled by the size of the pot. Is that so? I realize it will live in the small pot but will it grow larger? I appreciate your thoughts...

Most Junipers are hardy to usda zone 4. Where are you? Moving trees from indoors to outdoors every day is very stressful. They need colder nights and warmer days. That is what they are evolved to. Bringing it in make it the opposite.

As long as a tree is alive it grows. That is the nature of trees, to grow. A small pot limits growth speed. Trimming controls size.

I am in central Oregon. Thank you for your advice. I shall leave my 名媛直播 outside as you advise.

I am not aware of the climate in oregano. This is an international forum. But a tree that has not been hardened off in authum is very sensitive to frost. You will need to protect the tree from frost in cold frame greenhouse or a shed. Not indoors in living room conditions.

Hi Winge,

Yes you can grow out your juniper in a pot. It is easiest if you ensure the plant hat a well-draining substrate low in organic compnents. This will allow you to water often, fertilize a lot without overburdening the roots. You do not HAVE to use it however.

Most of Oregon has a mild climate. Junipers are amongst the hardiest plant groups out there and easily stand -15c (~ 0f). Most of oregon is warmer in winter. Just protect the plant from harsh winds and direct sun when frozen. If you do not experience deep frosts now, put it outside.

As you are in Oregon, your state (!) is host to one of the best known bonsai nurseries:

That, and Michael Hagedorn's place too
That's a garden worth a visit, I'm told (on my list, but not been in the area in the last few years)
