I bought a bonsai from a local grocery store. The tag only labels it as a bonsai, from looking up different species it looks like it might be a ficus. I need to repot it, does anyone know how big of a pot I should get? And other than watering, are there other things it needs? And my biggest question, it has 4 stalks, will they grow into each other to form a tree? Do they need to be separated?

What you have bought is not a bonsai but a pot full of young seadlings. No, you dont need to repot it. If you want faster development it is possible to slip pot into bigger pot without work on the roots. Thats it. After a full growing season you can separate the seadlings into individual pots and if you want mowement in the trunks you can do that in the same time. The bigger the pot the faster it will develop. In 10 years or more you can start to think about bonsai pot again.

Oh that is good to know! When I bought it, it was just one little leaf sticking out, the sprouts popped up a few weeks after. What is a full growing season? I have had it for 8 or so months now in the same pot. Can you tell what it is? Thank you!

Ok, so not many seadlings as I thought. Just one, do not try to separate.
A full growing season is from mid spring to mid authum. But can vary by species.
Sorry, cannot tell species.

check Zamioculcas zamiifolia
If it is, then this will just have to be a nice decorative plant: It is sort-of a fern and will not grow a trunk

I looked it up and you're right, it's a ZZ plant. I pulled it out to check the roots and it's definitely a ZZ plant! You're good! But it's not good that it's toxic. Thank you so much for the help!!
