Hi all and thankyou in advance. After watching some of Peter Chan's DIY videos, I picked up a couple of junipers from my local garden centre. On the procumbens nana particularly, after I had sifted out some of the wood chip and top layers of soil to reveal the trunk, there are a lot of roots growing down from the lower section of the trunk and bottom branches. See photo. Hope it's clear enough, it's only a littleun and all foliage still on.

I'm in no hurry, Im quite happy just looking and thinking at the moment while I'm learning. I figure maybe some of the roots towards the base could be utilised, but the higher root with an arrow to it I feel is just too high?

Any tips or reccomdations appreciated, no matter how critical.

Why don't you try to do a ROR'ROR.
Roots-Over-Rock.
You already have some nice starting roots for that.

Interesting! That hadn't occured to me, not something I've looked into yet as feels like a more advanced technique, but I'll do some research. Thankyou, I'll certainly not jump into pruning mode!

Nice roots! The obvious solution is not to do anything to the roots, but leave them as aerial roots. You could keep digging further over the years to come, and reveal more and more aerial roots. I have seen a 30 meter tall pine tree with crazy aerial roots. That pine used to stand on a hill top, but part of the hill below it just eroded away...
