Hi! My girlfriend offered me this lovely bonsai last year. At the time I didn't worried to memorize its species. Now, i'm putting labels on all my bonsais to give them the proper conditions.
Do you know what species is this?
Thanks.

It's a ligustrum.
Two questions: why is it in a tray filled with water, and why is it inside?

Thanks!!!
Well, the watering can that I have drops too much water into the soil and it makes a mess. This way the bonsai absorbs the water in 2 minutes and then i take it outside.
I'm open to tips on this matter.

Well, besides water roots also need oxygen. That oxygen is sucked in by water seeping through from top to bottom.
So water with a garden hose or watering can ( like a rain shower) untill water spills from the drainage hole underneath.
No need to bring it inside, leave it outside where it belongs.

I'm no expert, I read and see a lot of articles and videos online. I live in an apartment in Lisbon. The weather is Mediterranean. Hot in the summer, cold in winter... Not much humidity for these plants. So I put it outside every time I see conditions for it. Less than 18 degrees or so. Inside I pick a sunny spot.
