I received this Jade tree in the mail about a month ago. It arrived in good health. I repotted it in bonsai soil ( 1Akadama 1Lava Rock 1 Pumice) and a bonsai training pot. Three weeks it has been fine watering 2xs a week because my apartment is extremely dry. It is sitting in a east facing window that get great light from dawn til about 4. The past 2 days the leaves have began to wrinkle i mist the area every morning to help with the dryness of the apartment. A few leaves have completely dried and fallen off.

Seems like dehidration, is the leaves a little hard or too soft? You should had let it in peace when it arrived for a few weeks before doing any intervention, when you repot a plant or do some rootwork, you can expect less capacity of the plant on absorbing water, that's why you remove some leaves after doing that, so it can transpire less tru them...

When watering jades twice a day dehydration is not likelly. I water mine every two weeks in summer and not at all for the 4-5 month of winter.

Unless the overwatetering has rotted the roots, then this plant is doomed.

Overwatering is the single most common misstake that kill jades. Newly potted trees should be left without water for 2-4 weeks.

I think he said he was watering twice a week, not a day...
Wouldn't that be ok for the high drainage soil he's using?

Yes it is free draining. But also moist holding. I havent grown crassula in that kind of substrate, but a few other trees. What crassula needs is at least one week of bone dry between watering and a lot longer if newly planted in winter/spring. I am sure that watering more than once a week is bad for crassula no matter environment or substrate.

Note, this is not a jade / crassula. It is elephants bush, Portulacaria afra.

nevertheless.. After repotting these, they need to get settled. They do this under dry conditions. Wet soil and succulents do not do well together.

I am not sure, this plant looks under severe duress, and i would agree, changes are the roots are rotten due to wet soil but hard to tell.

Yes, that is right. My bad.

Jade is a name used for both crassula ovata and portulacaria afra. Even if that is confusing to some, the care is excactly the same.

The leaves are soft on the tree but hard when they fall off. It seems to me like it is dehydrated and trying to suck moisture from the leaves
