I have wanted to create a bonsai from a wild tree for a long time, and today my first opportunity presented itself to me. At the bottom of my mum's garden, I saw this fantastic stick growing out the ground. Due to the shallow root and the vast amount of rain we have been having, it lifted out of the ground very easily.
I've never seen a wild tree grow like this, and so had to take it home.
Now, what do I do with it? any ideas? I don't even know what species it is.
In order to keep it alive, I quickly potted it up in a tray. Not knowing what it is, I thought best to maintain as much of the root as possible
I've never tried to tame a wild tree before. Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Looks like a fraxinus to me.
Nice roots on there too.
I would take the first months of the season to just let it grow and establish.

Thanks Leatherback. I think that’s what I’ll do. I just didn’t want to get to a stage when I think “I wish I had done (insert whatever it is here) back then”.
Meanwhile. Are there any more takers on what species it could be? The lucky winner will be the proud owner of pride in getting it correct.

I was going to do both to it this year, but noticed all the branches growing vertically up, so have just wired it.
