Just wondering how to best winter a new Juniper. It's about a year old and hasn't been done. I live in NOVA SCOTIA so it gets cold .
I want to transplant it to a larger pot and then winter. After transplanting can I just put it in my garage where the temperature is around 0 degrees Celsius.
Please let me know.
Thank you

Hello and welcome.
Your juniper “ hasn’t been done “?????????
Two things: why do you want to repot, and if it is still winter over there it’s not the optimal time to do that .
Overwintering in your garage is perfect.

I just mean that is never been over wintered before.
So I shouldn't repot till spring?
Also, should I cover the soil to maintain warmth. Like with much or moss?
Thanks for the advice.

Also I just bought it. The pot isn't great. Should I still wait to repot.

A picture would help to know what we are talking about.
If you place it in a frostfree garage there is no need to cover the soil with whatsoever.

Perfect placement . Absolutely no need to repot. Placing it in a bonsai pot will not make it a bonsai all of a sudden. In fact, the pot is the last step when creating a bonsai. In your case, let it grow, place it outside as soon as temps are positive again. Repot only when its potbound, in spring.
If you are new to growing bonsai, loads of good info to find here, and some good online courses to follow.

I thought it was in the garage already.
Do not keep it in your living rooms, i will die there, no doubt about it.
Is there light in that garage?
