New bonzai. Can I still save it? was created by Chart

This time a year my house doesnt have much sunlight so I was afraid to over water. First leaves started falling off while they still looked good so I gave it a proper watering. Now the leaves turned browned/yellowish, althought they are not falling off now. Also a couple os mosquitos hatched in the dirt. Is this a lost cause?

Side note: this was a gift from a friend who knew I always wanted a bonzai but just never got around to buying one, so I'll go to some lenght to save this boy

Sorry to say but that is a dead plant.
Trees really dislike being inside, they just die. There is no such thing as an indoor plant in the way you think of indoor - being in your living rooms, warm and dry. Trees need dormant periods.
For the 0.001% chance that there is some life left: if its not freezing in you part of the world, place it outside in a sunny spot, give it a good shower with a garden hose or watering can so water spills from the drainage hole, and hope. do not give fertilliser, do not bring in inside again, do not fiddle with it.
