Lost all its leaves after being kept by a radiator (I know better now), soil has been kept moist but not wet throughout winter however. It’s lost its leaves but will they reemerge in spring or is it now dead, how do I check?
Thanks
Thanks

99% chance it's dead. It was killed from being inside ( which it still is).
For the 1% chance that it will recover: place it outside, give it a good shower with a garden hose or watering can untill water spills from the drainage hole. Repeat a few times cause that soil looks like its bonedry. Do not give fertilliser, do not bring it inside, do not fiddle with it and hope but for that 1 %

As there are no leaves, it’s kinda hard to tell the species... But you seem to have figured it out already that bonsai don’t like to spend their winter by the radiator. Put your tree in some place cool with sun, and come spring, you will notice if the tree is alive. Most bonsai species prefer the cold outdoors for their winter dormancy period, so if your tree does survive, perhaps you could find it a nice spot outdoors.

If it was a Chinese Elm, then it just may be alive, if it is Serrissa or Ficus or anything else then it is almost certainly dead. Looks like it may have bee Chinese Elm. Put it outside and leave it, do not water unless it is very dry and hope.

What is the temperature at your location now? Any risk for frost still?

Hopefully figured out in time and it’s not too late, will place it outside now as temperatures have picked up here in the UK, thanks for the help.

Thanks for this suggestion, I’ll place it outside and hope for the best.
