名媛直播 on life support - please help! was created by shogan

Hello! My roommate and I have been proud owners of this Brazilian Rain Forest 名媛直播 for 3 YEARS.

Sadly, our neighbor only watered it only once while we were away for two weeks, and all the leaves fell off.

It's been a month, but I'm convinced it's still alive. All of the branches are still green and nimble, and it's shown little buds here and there. The problem is... no leaves, no energy. It needs just one leaf to start a comeback.

Can anyone offer help?

It's on life support so any ideas are welcome. One thought is to prune branches to conserve energy. But we're not sure if we should do that from the main branch or the smaller ones.

Many thanks!

I'll preface by saying that I've never grown a Brazilian Rain tree. However, I do know that they lose their leaves at certain times of the year, typically when it gets cold enough. One thing that might give you some encouragement, trees don't necessarily need leaves to promote growth. They store energy inside of their trunks and release it at the correct time, usually upon warmer weather. Also, the idea of trimming back to conserve energy is on track, but I'm not sure you really need to do that in this case, especially if you see some buds at the nodes.
I hope this is helpful. Maybe some Brazilian rain tree experts on here to chime in. Good luck!
P.S. I'd like to add a Brazilian rain tree to my collection. Love the look of the leaves.

Any pictures of the tree?
I've been growing quite a few BRTs, and boy, they are tough!
They even are OK with some drought, but...
Two weeks with no watering is a bit too much.
But wait. If you are in the northern hemisphere then Spring is just around the corner and it might spring back to life.
I would prune it down, so new foliage will sprout everywhere if there is still some life lurking inside it.
Good luck.

I recently sent a 2-3 year old seedling to Sweden. That tree got stuck in covid mail mess, and it took about 6 weeks (!) to get there. It was repotted, as it was mangles a little bit. And 2 months later I got an email claiming life in the tree.

Do not worry. Water sparingly. Put it in a bright spot, consider enclosing it in a transparant bag to raise humidity levels and wait.
