Quick question: is it okay to leave snow on junipers if the temperatures are above 25 degrees? There is a winter storm passing through the northeast of US. Trees have been in dormant for a few months now. I'm just curious to how the snow can affect the foliage of cypresses. As you know, snow turns to ice.
I have been up to this point removing the snow to avoid ice damage, but maybe there is something I could learn about the snow, and I have been doing it wrong.

Do trees get snow on them in nature?

Snow is great. If your trees are burried in snow they are less at risk of drying out. Also, it acts as an insulator: Underneath a pile of snow, temperatures are much higher and often hover around 0c.
Note: this is an international forum, so please use international standard units of temperature, or indicate if you use a local unit.

Your snow covered trees are beautiful! Where I grew up, it was not at all uncommon to see trees covered in snow for a few months, and come spring, they sprouted new leafs, grew shoots, etc. Heavy snowfall can damage weak branches, but that is unlikely with bonsai, so it is customary to fake such damage by creating jin etc Snow rarely kills trees.

Thanks for the feedback - we got a lot more snow and I am using Fahrenheit.
Wanted to show an update as almost all of my bonsai babies are now completely covered but was unable to post any photos.
I am going to leave them snuggled up in the snow - I have my most precious up against the house where the heating system keeps the ground slightly warmer.
