Good morning. Total newbie here. I got a bonsai kit for Christmas which I am very much enjoying. I currently have:
- three pots in the fridge
- two with happily growing plants (Chinese Wisteria & Italian Cyprus)
- one which I'm not sure is so happy (Dwarf Mountain Pine)
I have a couple of questions that the instructions don't answer.
1. All the pots have multiple seeds in (there is a small forest growing in the pine pot!) Is this a problem, should each tree be in a separate pot? If so, how do i go about that without damaging the trees?
2. The kit came with biodegradable pots which have developed quite a bit of what looks like white mould on the outside, is this something to worry about? The Pine pot had the worst mould and the plants don't look overly healthy (at least to my untrained eye), .
3. The kit said these are indoor bonsai trees but that would surprise me with at least the mountain pine... could anyone shed any light on this?
4. The Wisteria is looking quite large for its pot, how do I know when to repot it?
Thank you so much in advance for any help, as I've said I'm really enjoying growing them and would be sorry to see them go.

If you do a bit of a search on this site you will find extensive answers in the forum to all of your questions.
In short:
- Several plants in pots is not an issue initially. At some point they start to be in eachothers way, and you will need to split them up. Het them some maturity first, young seedlings damage easily.
The outside of these pots can start to decay. Not a real problem.
There is no such thing as indoor trees. All trees need to be outside, unless the ouside weather is too cold for them. Wisteria and pines are certainly outside plants. Unfortunately, you are ni mid-winter, and you have to hope they live tilll frost is over so you can put them outside. A cold room with lots of light would be best.

Thank you for the response @leatherback, that's really helpful.
I did have a search for the mould question (my orrigional reason for coming to the forum) but couldn't find anything, obviously I was looking in the wrong place
Thanks again.

Mould formation could be a result of the soil being too damp (overwatering), low airflow (result of being inside) oooor, it might be Mycorrhizal fungi (which is beneficial to trees).
Without a picture it's hard to offer detailed advice.

Thank you @Lil Lupe
I've started putting the plants outside in the day and bringing them in at night which hopefully will help with airflow.
There should have been pictures with the original post?
Thanks again for your help.
