Beginner questions! What species/when to repot was created by Knide
Posted 3 years 11 months ago #65385I got given a couple of 'grow your own bonsai' sets for Christmas, and have had these little guys slowly popped up!
They are around 1 month old now, and were all planted at the same time.
The set I got didn't specify what kind of trees the seeds are, they were just labelled as being mixed so I have no idea what these little sprouts are. Does anyone have any ideas?
Also, will they be ok together in the same pot? I have no idea when it's a good idea to separate them. I assume when they're a little older and stronger, I have a few 9cm plant pots ready.
I also now have this lovely little fig bonsai! But I have no idea how old it is. Any ideas?
Thanks much

Posted 3 years 11 months ago #65389The other tree was advertised as a Ficus Retusa.

So it was advertised as a Ficus Retusa, but the little tag on the tree itself actually says Carmona! That's weird. I'm happy I posted it here!

Posted 3 years 11 months ago #65394Chances of survival on a Ficus is waaaay bigger, the oldest 名媛直播 in the world is a Ficus.
And they accept a lot of different techniques very well, like grafting (branches and roots), trunk fusion, root pruning, defoliation... And they're very resistant, so you probably wont kill it by pruning too much for example.
That's all a Carmona isn't ... xD

TYeah I just got in contact with the place I bought it from! I was considering keeping the Carmona because it's a really pretty little tree, but I don't want to accidentally kill it. I originally wanted a Ficus because they're supposed to be sturdy.
