I've owned my ficus ginseng bonsai for over a year and recently I've been having issues with it. A lot of the leaves are turning yellow, sometimes they also have some brownish. I've included a picture with the leaves that fell to help visualize the way they look. It is concerning because my tree is starting to look very naked, many leaves turned yellow and fell.

I got a humidifier to keep it humid, I've been misting it as well. I tend to not overwater it too much, the soil seems to be wet and not dry. Until about 2 - 3 weeks ago, I started filtering my water because I thought maybe the tap water was the cause. I also added a little bit of plant food 19-6-12 in case it needs nutrients. I've placed a thermometer to make sure its not cold, in the picture you can see it stays between 64-70 F, which is a decent temperature for it. The humidity typically stays above 50, only when the humidifier runs out of water, it drops below and usually when I forget about it, it drops to low 30s.

I am running out of solutions, please, I need help! Also, I've noticed that my leaves have a lot of salt residue from the humidifier. What's a good way to remove that from them? I'm afraid to try and clean them right now because of how sensitive the leaves are.

Stop fertilizing emedantly. Fertilizing is not food for the tree, sunlight and water is. Never fertilize an unhealthy tree.

You're on winter there, right? Is it been kept indoors or outdoors?

I failed to mention that I am located in Washington state. The tree is kept indoor only. And, yes, it is winter here.

I only did it once and the amount was very minimal. But, I won't do it again. It was recent, so i don't think this is the issue.

I see no picture. But.. Roots are always wet sounds like a lot of water. What is the light situation like? How many hours of direct sunlight can it get on sunny days?

Filtering is tricky. If this is a brita-filter kind of thing, you are typically making the water worse. The tap water hardly ever is a problem. The salt residue on leaves will rain off when you bring it outside for summer.

The leaves look wet on the picture. Are they wet?
Else.. Check for aphids, scale etc.

Yes, I just misted my bonsai since it tends to get dry here pretty fast. I try to maintain my humidity above 50%, as you can see from the pictures. Drainage is good at the bottom and I don't overwater it. I believe I used to commit that mistake about a year ago when I first got it, leaves would just fall since also there was lack of sun light. I will check for the insects, although, I've looked before but did not find anything concerning. I'll try again
