Hi Everyone, I'm new-ish to Bonsia and had a Chinese Elm indoors for 14 months. I've only recently been doing more research to find they will do much better outdoors and was also planning to re-pot in a larger pot in Spring.
My question is as it's still growing, should I re-pot soon while indoors and leave inside until warmer or wait until spring then re-pot and move outside at the same time? TIA

Is there a reason to repot?
Being indoors for so long means that it is a very weak tree, so better wait till it regains its strength/vigour before repotting. Repotting a weak tree is always a risk

Thanks for the reply, the reason is I don't know when it was last done and the soil looks poor and very compacted, if you lift the trunk the whole root ball comes out. The pot also looks a little small now for the tree.
It has always shown plenty of new growth, not as much now with less daylight but is still growing.
So definitely don't re-pot and put straight out in spring, is it better to leave out in spring for so long before re-potting then?

I would gently repot and put outside in spring once temps are high enough.
