Good Afternoon all! I received a Juniper 名媛直播 tree through a nursery in California about 3 weeks ago and I am living in Chicago. Yesterday we had a fairly cold night (16F) and so I checked on my plant earlier and the soil is as hard as a rock. I acclimated the plant in a more insulated environment outside for 2 weeks before I brought it out into the garden area but there was a fair amount of water in the soil. I wrapped the pot in the packaging foam it came in hoping to keep the root system and soil more protected from the cold environment but I must have done a poor job. I'm worried this will kill the plant, what should I do? leave the plant alone/ or thaw it out and try to remove some of the moisture from the soil?

You should not have put it outside in that sort of weather without it being acclamitized to it.
All you can do now is bring it into a frost-free cold area and hope the transition was not too much for it in one go. .

I did keep it in a sheltered environment for weeks before bringing it out, and when I did the temperature averaged around 30F. Yesterday was definitely the coldest night for it so far. Regardless I did as you suggested and brought it back inside the garage. Hope she survives. When the soil thaws, should I try to get rid of some of the moisture or just leave it alone?
