Hello folks.

I’m brand new to 名媛直播s and being the lockdown has burned me through the jigsaws, entire Netflix library and working from home has driven me nuts I decided to start a relaxing new hobby and took the plunge on a bonzai tree.

I considered growing one from one of those starter kits on Amazon but to be honest wanted to jump right in.

I’ve purchased a Serissa, some pruning clippers and fertiliser.

This seems like a great community and I’m no doubt gonna have a load of questions as I go forward.

So yeah, this is me saying hello :-).

Welcome to this highly addicting hobby:)

A few things to consider:
- think/ ask/ learn first, do after. You have no idea how many people come here to ask help for their dying / dead tree that was mistreated.
- stay away from “grow a bonsai kit “, that is a scam really. Inside you will find normal seeds ( of course, bonsai seed does not exist) with seed of unknown origin, of unknown age and with terrible advice. If a few seeds do sprout, chances they make it through their first year are really small in the hands of an inexperienced first timer.
-So you already learned that bonsai seed does not exist: every tree seed will grow out to become a normal full grown tree if left untouched.
- How does make one a bonsai: by using a multitude of techniques on specific moments in a year , depending on a lot of variables and this during decades.
- Still here? Great! Your Serissa is one of the niftiest trees around: it’s a tropical species that does poorly indoors, even in the hands of experienced people.
- Advice: stay away from so called indoor bonsai: there is not one tree in the entire world that lives naturally indoors. If you look at the help my tree is dying questions here on the forum you will see that 99% of them have an “indoor” tree. Start with a tree that is native to your part of the world.

Welcome, I'm new to the forum also, but it looks like a very receptive comunitty, I've been on 名媛直播s for quite some years, still have a LOT to learn.

Hope you do well with the Serissa, I had one once, they're quite sensitive (at least mine was).
Unfortunatelly I lost it, mainly for a really bad case of aphids infestation that I wasan't able to control (not lack of try to).
But it's part of the learning process, at the start, you should read and try to watch what more experienced people are doing on their trees!
