Hello everyone,
Before I ask my question, let me quickly introduce myself. My name is Michael and I am currently living in Thailand (hoping to stay here the rest of my life actually). I’ve never done anything with bonsai but always found bonsai trees fascinating.
I’m now looking to get into the hobby myself, but I’ve got no clue as to what kind of tree would be best for me. I’m living in an apartment in the center of Bangkok without a garden so I’m looking for a bonsai tree which would (hopefully) be able to grow indoors. My balcony is facing North-East and I’ve got another window facing South-East direction, my guess is I should put the tree in front of the window where it would get the most hours of sun. I' ve added 2 pictures of the situation. There will be direct sunlight from about 07:00-12:00 or 13:00. As I never use air-conditioning, my window and balcony door are always open so I suppose humidity in my room is very similar to the humidity outside. The relative humidity is between 65% in winter and 80% in the raining season (average annual is 73%) and the temperatures outside range from 20-25 in winter (at night) to 34-38 in summer.
The kind of tree I would like most is a tree with very small leaves (basically the smaller the leaves the better I like them), so it looks like a miniature tree. I guess there is probably not much choice for indoor bonsai trees but perhaps someone knows the right type for my situation. Some trees which I like that I found on this website are:
Juniper
Chinese sweet plum
Judas tree
Acer palmatum
Brazilian Rain Tree
Dwarf Jade
Taxus
I hope someone could offer this bonsai newbie some help, thanks in advance!
