Hi Folks
I have a few Ficus cuttings which have been in pots now for around 6 months and growing very well.
Currently as i live in the UK they are on a south facing window sill in my living room and growing happily.
Ive had idea of using one and trying a root over rock for the first time. My plan is take the plant out of the pot and wire or tie the roots around a rock then re-plant, I wont be doing any root or branch pruning just simply wiring or trying to the rock.
I want to do this before the cutting gets too big!
Is this a good plan?
Is it ok to do this in January?
Any suggestions please?

Using raffia to tie it would be a good idea. Maybe you could use grafting tape, but I think that might cause root rot.

Where are you located?
I would do this in spring. Ficus is weak in winter, uness you are in the tropics.
For getting the roots to grab on the rock, avoid things that provide pressure points such as twine, wire or raffia. As the roots grow, they grow around it leaving scars in neat lines across all the roots. It is better to use foil like cling-film.
I will this year try with alu foil, as it can be pressed in shape to really push young roots into crevices.
