I know this question has been asked but it was asked in a way that I didn't love. I know that most bonsai's do much better outside. and my first one is doing fine in surviving my winter plan. I got my second from a nursery that was shipped from California so it is warm year round there and may have even been in a green house. The tree should be dormant now but is not. I do not want to shock it into a sudden dormancy as is cold and snowy here. is it best to keep inside and then when the spring comes take it outside where it belongs? It may have a weird cycle this year but may get back on track after this year.

The best you can do is place it in 5-10 degrees and as much light as possible. Come spring, put it outside for rest of its lite.
