Chinese elm positioning was created by Callumscott97

Hi all,

So I recieved a chinese elm for Christmas, also my first bonsai. I live in a top floor flat so nowhere to put it outside. I have 1 East facing window where the sun will get to it for most of the morning. Is this adequate for a chinese elm? I am worried as others have said it is best to be outside. Any tips are much appreciated!

Regards

It’s a tree, so it needs to be outside. Inside it will die, sooner or later ( and mostly sooner)

My windowsill is bright in the morning and frost free, so would be bright and hot for a few hours and then in the shade for the rest of the day, it would stay frost free

At this time of year about 20°c in the flat and in the summer maybe 24-26° in the flat.

I have just taken the temperature by the windowsill, 14-15° atm so will be 14-15° in the day and maybe 12° at night in the winter. I'm not sure what temperature in the summer but I can monitor it

Then there is a slight chanse of survival. However, creating bonsai demands more than just bare survival. For bonsai creation you need a tree that is thriving.
