Not completely true. Junipers specifically can take up to 30% of their water needs through the needles.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense about the dormant period and, of course, it needs to thrive not only survive. As I said, I didn't research on the tree before buying it, so that was definitely a huge mistake.

By accident I found a bonsai shop run by the same old man, for more than 20 years, and tomorrow I'm taking this little guy there for some tips, checks, new pot and substract, in case these are not enough.

Another tip he gave me is to pick the dead needles out, as that allows for regrowing when the plant gets better.

I'll update the topic if I have other good news.
