Hey guys,
I am from srilanka and the bonsai culture here is just starting to grow but unfortunately there are no experts I can reach out to in identifying what species of plant I have to start asking how best to take care of it.
Hope someone gets back to me.

Hi Nanshad,
Welcome to BE.
As for identification.. I would recommend asking someone who is growing plants (Nursery?) for identification. As bonsai can be created from pretty much any tree / shrub species, local, plant-specific knowledge is important, before bonsai-knowledge.

There are several applications that help identify plants. Try Google Lens or PlantNet.

Perhaps you know if it flowers?
Looks like something of a small leaf rhododendron or sub-species Azalea type of plant.
Can you take a closeup of the leaves?
