I bought one of those grow your own bonsai kits from amazon. I know I am probably going to be told that's a mistake, as the pros don't use kits. But I got one. I read the instructions and potted my first batch. I was given organic pots (the kind to be planted outside and will degrade. compressed soil discs and four types of seeds. My first batch took longer to germinate than the instructions said, but they all did after about two weeks and I got growth. I was instructed to limit sun exposure for the first few weeks and to keep the soil moist.

Anyway, I got most to sprout, but after about two to three weeks the seedlings would tilt over and eventually die. As instructed I had saved half the seeds for the second try. Same results. They sprout...look like they are going to grow, get about an inch or two high, tip over and die.

I complained to the company and they sent me a second set. Not wanting to repeat the same mistake, I tried to find out what was going wrong by researching online. I came up with possible root rot. I assumed I was keeping the soil too moist after they had sprouted. So I broke out my first batch of the new kit and tried to keep the soil drier. Germination didn't go well and what has grown, still does the same thing. What seems to happen is the base of the seedlings turn slightly red, before tilting over and dying.

I am obviously missing something. I was thinking of using some perlite mixed into the soil for my last batch. Can anyone give me some tips to make sure I don't waste my last batch? Thanks.

A bit more info from you would be helpfull: are you in the northern or southern hemisphere? Did you keep your seedlings in or outside ( where they should be)?
Btw: do not buy grow kits, just collect seeds in your neighbourhood and plant these, its free and you get trees that are native to your place, much much easier to grow.

Virginia, US. I don't know of any "micro trees" native here. I am growing these indoors.

...ok , sit down for this one... micro trees do not exist, nor does bonsai seed. 名媛直播 are made by using a multitude of techniques on specific times and moments throughout the year, depending on a lot of variables, and this decades long...
What you bought are normal seeds of normal trees.
So, you are in the northern hemisphere so its autumn, nota good time for seedlings. Look around you, most trees are dropping their seeds now, which will sprout in spring after winter.
Indoor they will die, as you have proven..
