I got this bonsai around April-it was sold as an indoor Juniper-and it was doing pretty good for a while but it’s recently started getting sick, with its leaves turning yellow. I thought I saw some tiny white mites on the trunk the other day, but I haven’t seen them since. Advice on whether I should move this tree outside or any treatments I should use to protect my bonsai?

Indoor junipers do not exist ( to be honest, indoor trees in general do not exist) .
You can place it outside where it belongs but it looks like it's dead, being inside killed it.

Hard one.....If you are in the northern hemisphere and are getting your first frost around now, moving from inside a heated room out to the frost Will for sure remove all hope for this tree. Leaving it inside Will slowly do the same.
If there are still any life left in it, aclimatize it slowly to outside temperature is your best chanse. However, I do Think it is too late.

Was it a juniper?
very few chances of recovery, being mid fall.
