I have had this golden Larch for around 5 years and to be honest I neglected it for a while but to its credit the tree has continued to grow. Now I'm wanting to bring the tree back from the brink as it's my oldest tree but I don't know how style it or what to do to make the canopy get thicker.
One thought was to cut all the branches off and leave a dense conical canopy at the top but am not sure so do not want to commit to such a drastic haircut if I'm not sure. I'm fairly new to bonsai but have a collection of a 16 young trees already and have been reading lots and been watching a lot of videos.
Open to any and all suggestions please help!!

for now your main focus is health. in spring repot in a good substrate, and next year let it make some runners to get stronger. Then in fall 2021 think about styling options..

Thank you! Shall I just let it grow without pruning for now to see what new shoots come up?

based on your pictures I would have said you are in fall. Are you in spring? Because nothing will come anymore if you are in fall.

Yes it's fall here. Sorry I mean in the spring and summer shall I refrain from any pruning?
