Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me! I have had my Chinese Elm for a couple of years now and have not had any problems until the last week when all the leaves went yellow and dropped. I believed this was after I accidentally overwatered by soaking for two hours (I usually soak for around half an hour twice a week) as the soil felt damp when the problem started. However from reading it sounds like root rot would have been a much slower decline.
I have withheld water for over a week now and now I'm worried it was drought that has caused the problems and I've mad everything worse. Am I too late?? Thank you!

Please share some pictures.
In any case. It would be good to just place the tree in dappled shade, water carefully; no more soaking! ; only when the roots start to go dry, but never let them dry out and wait. It may take weeks before you see any changes.

Thanks leatherback! Here are some photos. If I let the soil dry out the only way to water is to soak it otherwise it won't absorb?

Then you let the soil dry out too much. I should never go completely dry.Clara wrote: If I let the soil dry out the only way to water is to soak it otherwise it won't absorb?
