Repotting gone wrong

I've recently repotted my pocomoke crape myrtle (dwarf) into a pot I liked. It was good for the first day but I had to go out of town for 2 days and left it unwatered. When I came back the leaves were super brown and dead-looking. Luckily, the leaves are still pretty attached to the branches so I still have hope for it. When I repotted it I was also forced to cut out around 3/4 of the root system. Any advice on how to keep it alive? I just watered it and put some fertilizer spikes to help the small root system absorb more nutrients. This is my first bonsai tree so I'm still figuring everything out. Thank you for you time!

The wiring is not good. Take it off. You should not have re potted at this time of year, and even worse you should not have left it unwatered after heavy root pruning. You will be lucky if it still alive. Put it in a shady spot out of direct sun and keep it watered and hope, there is not much else you can do.

There is a large How-To section on the website here, and it includes a lot of information about when to do steps like repotting. Before doing the next tree, it would be well worth your time to read the basics in How-To.
It probably doesn't mention the importance of watering. You can leave it without watering on rainy days but the rest of the time you really need to water them, particularly during the summer.
The tree probably won't recover. Put it in the shade with as little heat stress as possible, and be sure to keep the soil damp. Don't do anything else until next spring.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it looks pretty dead to me.
Please follow the suggestions already presented by the other members, and pray for it to recover. Even if it looks dead now.
