So I used to be a "fake plants" type person. Loved using them for decor, didn't want to take care of them because I kill everything I touch =(

Got a bonsai as a housewarming gift, and according to the label it is a BAHAMAS BERRY.

So I only have one window, and it faces West. So I figured I would put my tree on the windowsill during the day and have it on my table during the night (its summer so window sill wont be too cold). It was going perfectly at first, new dark green leaves growing everyday!

However, it had an exposed top root system which dried up (too much direct sun exposure?)...I noticed this and tried to keep a cover over the root system. However it was too late as when repotting the top root system was basically detached from the tree. (was repotting as the original pot was an ugly one and I was really starting to like it)

Anyways, in my novice ways and failure to inform myself before taking action......I decided to fertilize my newly shocked plant and continue to leave it on the window sill. While I haven't seen any signs of "death" yet...the new foiliage is now a much lighter green than it was previously.

Have I killed my first baby? Is there something I can do to revive it. or is this normal to see after a stressful event and to just wait for it to recover?

It's normal for new leaves to have different colours from mature leaves.

Thanks, I was worried because at first the new leaves were also dark green like the mature ones
