Hello, I just got some Japanese maple seeds and I’m wondering what the best way to cold moist stratify them is and also do they need scarification?

In the coldest corner of the fridge for at least 40 days before the Spring, with some sand and sphagnum moss. No scarification needed. Usually some of them sprout roots still in the fridge.
But...
Want to make a bonsai out of them?
Buy two.or three seedlings, cuttings, air layers or saplings.
It's faster.

I plant my seeds in fall, in a container protected from rodents. Put it outside for winter and let nature take it from there. If you have cold winters, that could work for you too.
