well... bonsai means tree in pot, the pot is there, but does it look like a tree...? It is a young juniper placed in a bonsai pot with some oriental feeling things and sold commercially by the thousands.
Now we have that out of the way: it can become one, with the proper care and given at least 5-10 years. Steps: outside all the time ( it will die inside);remove the rock and statue, they prevent water from entering the soil and you from seeing if the soil is wet or dry), water when needed ( soil feels dry to the touch), fertilise now and then.Keep it alive, thats all for the next few years. Meanwhile dig into the world of bonsai, which is great and highly addictive. Loads of info and courses here on this site, youtube, go to a local bonsai club etc etc
