Hello,
I bought a golden ficus in May and it has been doing well until the past couple of weeks. I noticed some of the leaves turning yellow and eventually beginning to drop off. Now the less turn brown and drop off while half if the leaf is still green. Done if the buds are also turning brown. I keep it indoors at about 78 degrees in a well lit area that gets a lot of afternoon sun. I have been watering it every two or three days. So I am not sure what to do. Any help would be take appreciated!

You keep it inside? Any form of climate control?
If it is warmish weather and not sahara dry, I think it would be better off outside. But please, tell us a bit about local weather & indoor conditions.

Thank you for the reply. Yes it is kept indoors, I don't have a good outdoor space. Temperature is kept at about 78 during the summer. I've recently tried to start misting it as I want to try and keep humidity up.

My ficus is the only tree I have tried indoors that has not had problems. It prefers outdoors, but can manage indoors. Its leaves M are different so not the same species. Yours probably wants lots of sun.
If you have any kind of air motion, like an air conditioner, misting only helps until the air moves.

There is not much circulation in that area so I'm not sure what I should do to stop the leaves from falling.

The leaves may be falling because the tree has decided to drop some and grow new ones. That always happens to me in the fall not long after it moves inside for the winter. I don't know if it is shock from being moved or the tree's idea of winter dormancy. Let it go for a while and see if it sprouts new leaves.

Thank you for your reply. I was just a bit concerned when I saw some of the leaves being literally half green and half brown and falling off. At what point should I be concerned if too many leaves drop off?

Any other thoughts on this? I am thinking of reducing the watering frequency to about once a week, as I think I may have been over watering by doing it every 2 -3 days or so.

If the plant has been in the pot a while you might be able to pull the entire root ball up. If is is soaking wet, water drips out, and it smells rotten you have a problem with too much water. The problem could bee too much watering, poorly draining soil, no holes in the pot, holes in the wrong place, water soaking up from a humidity tray, or something else. An hour or so after watering there should not be water dripping from the root ball or standing in the bottom of the pot.
