Nutrient deficieny and or pest

A little background about my Golden Gate Ficus is that it was given to me by a friend who was killing it. I mean it was in rough shape for sure, I did some research and figured it was root rot from poor soil plus his overwatering it. I took a chance to repot it with bonsai soil and this thing had so little roots I didn't know how it was alive. After 6 months of much needed TLC it started doing great until about 2 months ago the leaves started looking bad, it still puts off a bunch of leaves but they don't seem to live very long. Now I have looked all over the internet trying to figure out what is going on and what I get are nutrient deficiencies or pest. I can't find a straight answer to which nutrient is missing and if it's pest what kind and how would I kill them. I love this dang plant and I just want it to be happy and healthy. Any help y'all could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt it is nutrient deficiency, poor light possibly look under the leaves for insects if there are none then it is more likely cultural. Without a picture it is more difficult to say, anything is just a guess.

Sorry about lack of pics, I thought I uploaded it, it's in my office and I have put a few different grow lights on it and made a terrarium for it. This only recently started doing it. I have checked for pest on the plant itself but obviously can't check roots. If it is a nutrient problem I am afraid to add too much of something and hurt the plant.

This is not nutrient, it is culture, whether it is lack of light or water I am not sure but if you are adding fertiliser every month then it is not that. I would be thinking insects or poor watering, As it was in such poor condition it could just be taking some time to recover, or even the flush of growth was stored energy and now the plant has none left and is showing stress.

To much water, not enough sun. Most plants just don't do so well in the office. There use to be, "Rent a Plant" folks around here. When they start turning yellow, they replace them. It needs to be outside.

What a lot of us do is put the tree outside under a table, oriented so that the sun hits the tree in the morning and afternoon but then is blocked by the table.
Another variant is that I have on tree that loves all the sun it can get and has a big canopy. i put a couple of smaller trees under it for the same result.
