Hi all,
First post, so please be gentle with me!
I have a small Olea Europaea that was given to me and was going through a recovery period having suffered from some kind of shock in a larger pot, with a plan to root trim and repot next year - recovery plan seemed to be going well, but certainly wasn't 100%. I went away for three weeks and my good-intentioned, but somewhat forgetful friend did not water it at all! Every single leaf is droopy/hardened, so clearly I need to take some action if there is any chance it can recover (poor thing)!
My question to give it the best chance, should I just defoliate? Or should I do a full repot & root trim? Obviously it's completely the wrong time of year for either, but it does feel as though doing nothing at this stage is probably not the best option.
Would appreciate any thoughts/views/opinions!
Thanks
James

The last thing to do is repot. Olives will take being dry, and even though it has lost leaves then it should recover with watering. I would not remove the leaves unless they are dead, just water well and keep in the sun.

@m5eaygeoff OK! Many leaves fell off on touch, but there are some that are shrivelled, but firmly attached. After the first deep soak in water they don't seem to have perked up, but I'll be patient if that's the thing to do.
@lucR I only wish... growth has been stunted due to it being indoors, but sometimes you just have to work with what you've got, right? As I said, prior to this recovery was slow but steady. I realise it's never going to have abundant growth without outdoor life.

Welcome to the wonderful world of holiday plant watering.
Most of us have more than one horror story. I have a young man who has been dependable as can be since he got his driver's license. He just graduated from college and is on the job market. I am not excited about him moving away.

Alas it wasn't to be. This weekend I will put the tree to rest... Time to find a new one!

If you are planning on keeping it inside you can better leave it where it is because it will die too!
