Hey everyone,
I just planted the Sequoia for the first time a few weeks ago. It has good soil, mid afternoon to evening sun, and cover overhead so it doesn't take direct rain. It seems to be deteriorating rapidly and I have no clue what went wrong. Also please ignore the dying plant next to it it's not mine lol.

Hello everyone,
My name is Daniel, and I am from Serbia.
I have tried hard to find giant sequoia plants as it is not common in this area. Finaly i found a nursery in Romania and got 2 small plants 3 yrs ago. They are growing beautifull in the pot, i had no problems so far but they are growing high.
My question is: How do I do top prunning so that I stop growing upwards, I read somwhere that I can cut the top and use side branch as new top, however not sure about the details.
I have still not moved the plants into the shallow pot as i was letting them grow free.
I am thankfull for all advices, as I am afraid to do a mistake because I think that I am the only one in the country having this amazing plants
Thank you

Hey Daniel,
I'm sorry I can't be of much help. My first experiment failed spectacularly. As it is winter now it should be a better time to have them repotted to I am currently awaiting my new one to make another attempt. I wish I could be of more use.
Sorry!

So the tree is around 4-5 years old? You have a few years left to grow before cutting the leader off. Before that I am sure you have found your answer.

In a couple of years cut the trunk off just before a large branch, and wire the branch upward to take the place of the trunk piece you cut off.
To make this worthwhile the trunk should be pretty thick, so you have plenty of time to research how to do it, how to pick the place to cut, etc.
